Children entering Kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st. (Exceptions to this policy may be considered.)
The children learn to read using the phonetic sounds of the alphabet, short and long vowels, silent vowels, and diphthongs. Children are introduced to the numbers 1-100; counting by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's; money; telling time; addition and subtraction families.
They are introduced to social skills as well. They leave their classroom every day to eat lunch in our cafeteria, where they use forks, napkins, and manners, while eating and visiting with their friends. On Wednesday, they are involved in our chapel service. They gather and sing and hear a special story from Brother William geared just for them.
Letter and number writing are a daily practice in Kindergarten. Science and Social Studies are also introduced to our Kindergarten students.
The class schedule also includes Spanish, art, singing, Bible stories, Bible verse memorization, poetry, learning games, computer skills, creative thinking practice, and play time.
Mrs. Susan Bell continues to do a wonderful job teaching our Kindergartners on a daily basis. We truly appreciate her!
