Character Development:
Character Development class is designed to aid our students in developing strong Christian character traits which they can rely on throughout their lives. It is our desire that, along with strong academics, our students learn to be ambassadors for Christ, representing Him in all that they do in life.
Art:
Art class consists of various projects, designed to increase understanding and appreciation of art. Each grade learns according to their skill level through lessons which are presented in a fun and exciting manner.
Foreign Language:
We offer Spanish to all of our students. The students attend once a week for the entire year. The curriculum consists of learning numbers, colors, simple words and phrases, songs and Bible verses. Each grade learns according to their skill level through lessons which are presented in a fun and exciting manner.
Library:
We have a wonderful library with a large selection of books for all ages. Each class has library time once a week. During this time, they are taught how to locate a specific book or book covering a particular subject, how to properly check out a book, and how to care for and return a book in a responsible and timely manner.
Music:
Children and adults alike learn in different ways. Some learn by seeing, some by hearing, and others by doing. All of these approaches to learning are utilized as we teach our students the many aspects of music. Studies show that students who are active in music or have some musical background tend to achieve more in other areas of study, such as math, English, science, etc.
At Destin Christian Academy, we believe that the fine arts are vital to providing a well-rounded education. Music is offered during the second and fourth nine weeks. They practice the fall semester for our Christmas Program, and work hard through the spring semester to prepare for our Spring Program.
As part of their total semester grade, the students are required to participate in both the Christmas and Spring Programs.
